Cate is an architectural and interiors photographer located in Leander, Texas, nestled just north of Austin.

She graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in sunny Santa Barbara in 2007, minoring in Commercial Advertising (this would end up setting the tone for her passion for marketing).

She began her photography business immediately and after God put Austin on her heart, she relocated to Texas where she met her husband and had their beautiful daughter Harlow.

After moving to Austin in 2013, Cate made serving interior designers – who were not only CEOs of their businesses, but also moms and CEOs of their households – her sole focus. She made elevating their brands through creative content her #1 goal and began offering them marketing support as well. Her clients began winning more industry awards and having their CB content selected for publications like Luxe, Vanity Fair, Texas Living, Austin Home and more.

She pivoted her business to a membership-only model in order to focus on serving a core group of designers she works with consistently and tripled the amount of images they were receiving.

Cate then expanded the types of services she offers and built an entire team around providing not only architectural photography, but also lifestyle and branding photography, videography and photo shoot styling. Which is how Cate and her team are blessed to serve their membership community and brand partners today.

Tracy Cannon brings the wonderful world of people to the spaces we capture. She began photographing people in 2008 and built a niche around lifestyle photography.

When she joined our team, she studied the way we capture spaces and began incorporating Cate’s interior compositions, with the way she captures designers in the space they created. She’s truly an interiors and lifestyle photographer in one.

But lifestyle photography wasn’t the only need we heard from our membership community. And that’s where branding photography was introduced. Our members wanted content that told the story of their brand and gave them tons of photos to show up daily in their marketing.

That included detail shots of flat lays, textures, textiles, color palettes and candidates of the designer immersed in beautiful creative spaces. The lifestyle + branding package quickly became the must-have add on to any CB architectural shoot.

Wesley Powers is a multi-faceted creator with over 10 years of experience as a cinematographer, photographer, live producer and audio engineer. These skill sets became the launchpad for Wesley’s dynamic career in content creation and marketing.

His passion is telling stories. And those stories were about to become key in expanding the type of content we offer our members. He joined the Cate Black team and started storytelling through videography – the stories of the designers and business owners, the homeowners and the beautiful story of the space itself.

Wesley studied how Cate captured interior spaces for the first year, taking his approach to capturing people and layering it with Cate’s technique of capturing spaces. This hybrid model of shooting people interacting in the spaces they create quickly became essential to telling the complete story of their projects.

Emely brings the social side of Cate Black Photography to life through reels, photos, and behind-the-scenes clips. On shoot days, she often captures the in-between moments and keeps things running smoothly.

At UT Austin, she completed a BFA in Design with a minor in Interior Design (hook ’em!). She started in hospitality marketing but soon shifted her focus to creative work she loved.

After following Cate’s work and feeling inspired by the designers and spaces she was photographing, Emely reached out. A coffee meet-up turned into her first shoot assist, and she’s been part of the team ever since. Today, she uses her skills to create content that feels genuine to the CB brand.

Outside of CB, she also uses her creativity to support local businesses through her own creative studio, where she helps bring ideas to life with intentional branding and marketing.
